The ART goes operatic with the American premiere of an exciting new opera with a score by MIT Media Lab's Tod Machover, with both acoustic instruments and electronics, and a libretto by poet Robert Pinsky, staged by ART director Diane Paulus. Death and the Powers is the story of a gazillionaire facing death and his absorption into an electronic "System" in which he can stay alive forever. Baritone James Maddalena lends all his considerable powers to the role of Simon Powers.
