Around 4 pm, make your way over to the Cambridge Brewing Company's Great Pumpkin Ale Festival (1 Kendall Sq, Cambridge). There will be 20 pumpkin brews, pumpkin- and Oktoberfest-inspired cuisine, and the ceremonial tapping of a 150-pound ale-filled great pumpkin that puts Charlie Brown's to shame — all yours for $10.
Once you're stuffed enough to pass for a pumpkin, walk over to the State House (24 Beacon St, Boston) and do the Beacon Hill with a Boo! tour, which starts at 5:30 pm and will cost you $15. This is a Boston By Foot tour, so you'll be able to walk off all the food (and booze) you just consumed and get a Halloweeny history lesson while you're at it.
While you're out there, be on the lookout for the And So No Sin Performance Troupe's Halloween Were-Walk, a roving, improvisational were-beast performance brought to you by the brilliant minds behind the 2007 Zombie Rights March. That event ended with fatigued zombies catching their breath outside John Kerry's residence of all places, and as they go door-to-door in search of candy this year, they'll no doubt freak out other upscale Beacon Hill residents — bound to be hilariously bizarre. You can watch or join the troupe in your best werewolf, were-chicken, were-whatever splendor starting at 7 pm on Boston Common.
If you've been rationing your candy responsibly, you should be feeling hungry again, so make your way to the Halloween Bash at Vox Populi (755 Boylston St, Boston), which will run you $20. If you get there between 6:30 and 8:30 pm, you'll enjoy a complimentary cocktail. Chef Ryan Murphy will cook you up a seasonal dinner as you and your friends get eerie tarot readings and cram into a photo booth for costume pictures. Best costume receives a $1K prize, and this party goes until 1 am. But you've got somewhere better to be.
For your grand finale, check out the Bloodfeast Halloween Party at Machine (1254 Boylston St, Boston). This one's $15 and goes from 9 pm to 2 am. Dance to DJs Mistaker, Mothra, Punketta Doilie, and Znuh, and get some tricks and treats from Karmaloop and Lemon Magazine. The whole event is meant to raise awareness for Red Cross blood drives — and maybe vampires? We're not sure, but we do know that you can get a free Halloween cupcake if you buy a mixed drink, plus there's a second opportunity to win a $1K cash prize for your costume.
SUNDAY? Sleep in, recover, and, if you can stomach anymore, gorge yourself on the Halloween candy you bought. You deserve it.
