Does this documentary from David Redmon and Ashley Sabin exploit its subject? You'll be tempted to say yes after being introduced to bi-polar paranoid schizophrenic Charles and the uneducated, crazy, and/or odd folks he meets along his 400-mile bicycle trek to New Orleans to rendezvous with his "invisible girlfriend," who's either Joan of Arc (or a statue of her) or a Big Easy bartender named Dee-Dee (whom he may be stalking) — or perhaps both. Among the highlights of this Southern geek show: a toothless old coot who reminisces about the movie with "the gingerbread man and a tin man and Mildrew." "You mean Dorothy?" asks Charles. "Dorothy?! That bitch! Boy, she makes me mad." But whether the directors are exploiting Charles are not, the end of his quest couldn't be more surreal if they'd planned it.
