VIDEO: The Bug featuring Warrior Queen, "Poison Dart"
Prepare to have your ribcage rattled, as two pre-eminent members of London’s dubstep underground rumble through town. Veteran producer Kevin Martin has just released an extraordinary second full-length as the BUG. Titled London Zoo, it's run through with jittery dancehall rhythms, thunderous beats, and gut-rumbling sub-bass. On the album, Mercer collaborates with the crème de la crème of UK toastmasters and MCs, and one of the finest, the formidable WARRIOR QUEEN, will join him this Saturday when he brings a bit of his glorious, apocalyptic dread to Basstown at Great Scott. To get a taste of what’s in store, check the video of “Poison Dart: feat. Warrior Queen”.
At the tender age of 26, HATCHA is already one of the grizzled vets of the dubstep scene. He’s also one of its most intrepid pioneers, with a slew of brilliant, genre-defining mixes to his credit, among them 2003’s immensely influential Dubstep Allstars Vol. 1 and last year’s paean to the glories of sub-bass, 10 Tons Heavy. On Wednesday, he’ll make his local debut behind the decks at the dubstep monthly BASSIC. If all goes according to plan, Good Life will be shaken to its foundations. Listen to a recent mix from Hatcha’s weekly radio show on London’s Kiss 100 at his MySpace page.
