For my main dish I chose tamarind duck ($14.75), one of four variations on the bird. It was one of our waitress's favorite dishes and I could taste why: bite-size pieces with crispy parts that stayed crispy under the rich brown pool of sauce, plenty for the accompanying mound of rice, and served with lots of colorful vegetables.
An enormous green in-shell mussel was prominent among the other seafood in the pad talay pong kraree ($14.75), over lettuce with vegetables and a nice garlic undertone.
Their pineapple fried rice sounds interesting because the fruit chunks are dredged in curry powder before being fried. But my friend chose instead a new item on the menu, designated with a red star: mango fried rice ($9.75), which was dense with goodies, from chicken and shrimp to cashews and peanuts. Well approved.
Don't miss their earthy, red Thai tea to cap off your meal.
And that menu cover boasts that Gratha Laun — Thai hot pot — "has come to Pawtuxet Village," a Rhode Island exclusive.
Next time.
