Review: Jack and Jill

Easily Sandler's worst film

Director Dennis Dugan's second Adam Sandler vehicle of the year turns out to be even worse than Just Go with It. Unpleasant even by Sandler's usual standards, it's easily the star's worst film. And it co-stars Al Pacino. (It's his worst film, too.) Sandler has now worked with Oscar winners Jack Nicholson (on Anger Management) and Pacino — what kind of dirt does he have on these once-great stars? How else to explain the sight of Pacino (playing himself) chasing Sandler (in drag) as terrible Jill Sadelstein? As repugnant a creation as she is, her twin brother, Jack (Sandler, again) is just as bad. Seething with anger stemming from his needy sister's annual Thanksgiving visit, Jack's an overprivileged jerk, an ad man pursuing Pacino to star in a Dunkin' Donuts commercial as dancin' and rappin' "Dunk-a-cino." After Jack shows him the completed TV spot, Pacino demands: "Burn this. No one must ever see this." Too late, Al.

This latest Marlon Wayans vehicle is a send-up of the "found footage" genre, from Paranormal Activity to The Devil Inside, and if the name of its director — Michael Tiddes — makes you chuckle, then is this the movie for you!
