The Globe's vanishing ad base
24.5 percent. That's how much advertising revenue at the New York Times Company's New England Media Group--which includes the Boston Globe--dropped from July '07 to July '08.
Yeah, it's a tough time for the industry in general. (The NY Times's own ad revenue dropped more than 15 percent for the same period, for example.) Still, I'm guessing that Janet Robinson & Co. are wishing they'd unloaded the Globe when they had the chance.
By way of comparison, NE Media Group ad revenues dropped 16.6 percent in June and 17.7 percent in May. Both grim numbers--but this is a whole lot worse.
