The Herald's recent-history rewrite
You might think the Boston Herald would just ignore the recent wackiness involving Jim Aloisi, since it was triggered by that Globe scoop involving the dubious State House job held by Carol Aloisi, Jim's sister.
Not at all! Just flip to p. 18 of today's Herald, and you can read all about it. Here's the news brief in question:
State Transportation Secretary Jim Aloisi has a message for those he's irked during his two months on the job: Sorry.
Aloisi issued an unusual, two paragraph statement to "clear the air and move beyond the recent controversies."
He said his passion for Gov. Deval Patrick's proposed reforms has "caused me to use language I have later regretted" and he "meant no disrespect."
Aloisi has referred to fellow Turnpike Board member Mary Connaughton as a "gadfly," and dismissed talk of reform before new revenues as a "meaningless slogan."
Of course, it was actually his Blue Mass. Group post calling the Globe's scoop "unfair," "inaccurate," and "disgraceful" that precipitated Aloisi's mea culpa. But hey, Herald readers can get that info elsewhere.
