What is there left to say about the Patriots?

We feel obliged to say something about the Patriots as they stand on the brink of completing an undefeated regular season, but really - what hasn't already been said? They're good, obviously, and with the exception of some folks who still want to make CameraGate into a big deal, nobody thinks otherwise. We'd like to run with the "16-0 isn't as meaningful as 19-0" angle, that they'll be relegated to the same space in the history books as the 2001 Seattle Mariners if they don't win a title, that the legions of Patriots haters out there are really hoping for just such an opportunity to rub it in our faces if they go down in the Super Bowl or sooner - but that's not even how we feel.

Although we can't claim to be as handy with our Cannon point-and-shoot as the sartorial X-tine Atturio, we did our best to document our evening out and about in Central Square.

Tackiest headline/lede combo for a story ever?

This headline was on E! today:

Alex Trebek Jeopardized by Heart Attack

Then, to compound matters, here's the first paragraph:
The category? Cardiac events. The clue? Alex Trebek.

For those wondering, Trebek is okay. But the Phoenix staff was inspired to come up with some other possible future headlines to describe tragic events in the lives of other noteworthy gameshow hosts.

A tribute to John Garcia: illustrator and kind friend

"Gee, too bad the article isn't as good as the illustration." Illustrators have heard this from editors since the first stick scratched in the dirt. Boston-area commercial artist and graphic-novel illustrator John Garcia routinely equaled or out shown his collaborators.

He died a few days ago.

Fire at El Pelon

This photo (taken by Caitlin Curran) reflects the scene at the Fenway's El Pelon Taqueria this morning. It seems there was a fire there last night. They are closed for the time being.

El Pelon, for those who may not know, is one of the best burrito places in town, and we're not just saying that because it's right near our offices.
