PJ Harvey releases a seductive 'Forehead'
PJ Harvey is tripping out. Last night the British songstress unveiled "Written On The Forehead," a teaser track off her new album, Let England Shake (out Feb. 15 via Vagrant Records). Last time anything written on any forehead was this newsworthy, it involved a New England Patriots cheerleader and a drunken frat kid passed out at a party. But Harvey's new effort is a seductive electronic ballad that's equal parts hypnotic and creepy, building along to a chant-along plea of "let it burn, let it burn."
Word is Let England Shake was recorded in a 19th Century church in Dorset in Southwest England, and "Forehead" seems to have captured that kind of enchanting mood. It was recorded with Harvey's long-time collaborator Flood (Depeche Mode, U2) who co-produced the album with Harvey, John Parish and Mick Harvey, formerly of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
