Well, shit. Hope y'all placed your bets early and high on ex-Boston sweethearts Nick Noonan and Amy Heidemann of KARMIN. Those crazy kids appeared on SNL this past weekend, and pulled off a reverse-Lana-del-Rey performance. (Sorry, Lana del Rey.)

The duo opened with their latest single, "Brokenhearted," a power-pop anthem featuring Heidemann's absurdly quick rap chops, and closed with a brand-spankin' new song, "I Told You So," a grittier nod to the pair's love of hip hop hooks, complete with.

Well, wouldn't you know it, KARMIN aren't wasting their time over there in Hollywoodland: not long after arrival, their first music video debuted on VEVO this morning. The single, which samples Black Sheep's 1991 hip-hop hit "The Choice Is Yours," hit airwaves October 20.

Since they left Boston, where they were nominated as Best New Act in last month's Boston Music Awards, the rising pop duo has scooped up an AMA (New Media Honor), landed a spot on Jingle Ball's tour circuit, and announced an album release date for January.

Kudos to Soundcloud user mjs538, who has condensed a half-century of pop genius into about 45 minutes. The format is simple: five seconds of each song that has held the number one song on the Billboard pop charts, in order. (Hat tip to Salon.)

The Ontario-born, London-dwelling, math-whiz musician Dan Snaith has been kicking around the electronic music world since 2000, when he released an EP called People Eating Fruit, under the moniker Manitoba. Originally, music was a part-time gig, pursued on the side while Snaith taught and pursued a PhD in math.

We have no idea who pitched who on having the Stooges covering Madonna's "Burning Up" at the RNRHOF induction last night, but we want to have this person inducted into the Rock N Roll hall of fame, and quickly. Ironically, we missed this live last night because we were watching a rerun of last year's "Fashion Rocks," on which the Stooges play "I Wanna Be Your Dog" -- and, later on the same show, the Gossip turn the end of their "Yr Mangled Heart" into an impromtu disco cover of "I Wanna Be Your Dog."

We caught up with our old friend Stacy Jones (Letters to Cleo, Veruca Salt, American Hi-Fi) at the tail end of his current freelance gig, which just happens to be the biggest pop tour in the universe -- let's just say he's now the Tommy Lee of tweenpop.

We just got a call from ex-Boston rocker and devout Red Sox fan Kay Hanley, who actually found herself stuck in Colorado for the first two games of the World Series. Well, maybe "stuck" isn't exactly the right word: she was among friends, including Stacy Jones (bio: Letters to Cleo drummer, Veruca Salt drummer, American Hi-Fi frontman) and AmHi-Fi guitarist Jamie Arentzen.

It's Britney, bitch! Looks like Zomba waited for everyone to go home before they serviced the new Britney track, "Gimme More," but expect to hear it in drive time as Labor Day weekend kicks off. This is the sound of summer, signing off.
